Clearing a blocked toilet Preston can be a straightforward task if you follow the right steps. Here are some effective DIY toilet unblocking methods to help you try and resolve the issue should you wish to give it a go!
Or alternatively call us! We will have it unblocked and flushing again in no time!!

1. Gather Your Tools
Plunger
Rubber gloves
Bucket
Toilet auger (if needed)
Old towels or rags
2. Prepare the Area
Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands.
Use old towels or rags to soak up any spills around the toilet.
Keep a bucket handy to remove excess water if necessary.
3. Use a Plunger
Place the plunger in the toilet bowl, ensuring it covers the hole completely.
Push down gently to create a seal, then pull up sharply to break the seal.
Repeat this process vigorously for about 15-20 seconds.
Flush the toilet to see if the blockage has cleared.
4. Try a Toilet Auger
If the plunger does not work, use a toilet auger.
Insert the auger into the toilet bowl and push it down the drain until you feel resistance.
Rotate the handle to break up the blockage or pull it out.
Flush the toilet again to check if the water drains properly.
5. Use Hot Water and Dish Soap
If the blockage persists, pour a generous amount of dish soap into the toilet bowl.
Heat a bucket of water (not boiling) and carefully pour it into the bowl from waist height.
Let it sit for about 20-30 minutes, then try flushing again.
